After Saudi Royal’s Snub, Pakistan Foreign Minister Rushes To China
Last Monday 17th Aug, when Pakistan’s Army Chief Bajwa along with ISI chief went to Saudi to meet the Royals which in turn were snubbed and were not able to meet Saudi Prince MBS. After the snub and loads of embarrassment by the Saudi’s, Pakistan foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has now rushed to China on a very ‘important visit’.
“The visit aims to project Pakistan’s political and military leadership’s vision,” Qureshi said in a video message before boarding the Pakistan Air Force flight to the island in the South China Sea.
Recently Shah Mehmood Qureshi is in a lot of news. The foreign minister criticized Saudi led OIC for not doing enough for Kashmir and not helping Pakistan in this matter. Qureshi eventually said that if OIC will not pay attention to Kashmir issue they might start a new Islamic block parallel to OIC.
Qureshi and the accompanying team of officials led by foreign secretary Sohail Mahmood are also expected to prepare for President Xi Jinping’s visit to Islamabad. President Xi’s visit, initially expected earlier this year, was deferred due to the Covid-19 pandemic and is expected to take place soon next month.
A Pakistan watcher in New Delhi said Qureshi was traveling with a three-point plan in hand that included scaling up military cooperation between the two countries.
